The annual event, usually named 24 Hours in the City, sees various creatives coming together to bring audiences a few brand-new short theatre pieces that are created and produced over 24 hours and subsequently staged at The Market Theatre Lab.
This year, they’re doing things a little differently. POP in the Park will be a daytime, outdoor, and socially distanced theatre event. They’ll be gathering 30 creatives together at 15:00 on a Saturday and will collectively create something (in 6 different teams) to be staged and experienced in a public space by 15:00 on Sunday.
Audiences can bring a picnic blanket and some snacks and enjoy a day of theatre in one of Joburg’s public parks.
POP in the Park will take place at Delta Park on Sunday 28 March. Tickets are R100 per person, with proceeds going toward bursaries for students at the Market Theatre Lab. Keep an eye on the Facebook event for further location details.
