UPDATE: Cape Town City Ballet – Back on Stage will be performed tonight Thursday 10 December, for one night only.
The programme features George Balanchine’s SERENADE and MOON BEHIND THE CLOUDS,a suite of works made during the time of Covid-19, by South African choreographers Veronica Paeper, Celeste Botha, Kirsten Isenberg, Yaseen Manuel, Lindy Raizenberg, Louisa Talbot and Marlin Zoutman.
‘With the rise in the number of Covid-19 cases, we have taken the decision to postpone two of the performances, and go ahead with tonight’s performance,’ says Debbie Turner, CEO of Cape Town City Ballet. The other performances have been rescheduled to February.
‘In doing so, we are helping to reduce the risk of spreading the virus, while giving our loyal audiences the opportunity to enjoy the magic of a live ballet performance, under strict Covid-19 protocols. The experience of live performance enriches our lives, uplifts our spirits and celebrates the immense talent we have in South Africa. After this incredibly challenging year, we need these experiences more than ever,’ says Turner.
The performance tonight will be performed to recorded music, as the CPO musicians are self-isolating at home.
Please Note: The event complies with all COVID-19 regulations including temperature checks, social distancing and patrons must wear masks for entry.
Patrons who have booked for CAPE TOWN CITY BALLET – BACK ON STAGE on 11 and 12 December have the option of receiving a full refund, donating their ticket or moving their ticket to the new dates in February 2021.
