Views from the Studio Collection (2010/11) is inspired by the Woodstock and Cape Town Harbours, which were on view from the Imiso studio – at the time situated on the fourth floor of Flex Mor House in Woodstock.
Andile Dyalvane founded Imiso (meaning ‘tomorrow’ in Xhosa) Ceramics, along with Zizipho Poswa and Abongile Madabane in June 2006.
Dyalvane was born in the small village of Ngobozana near Qobo-Qobo in the Eastern Cape. He studied art at the Sivuyile Technical College in Gugulethu, Cape Town, before finding employment at the Potters Shop and Studio, painting ceramics. He went on to study further, enthrolling in a Ceramic Design course at the Nelson Mandela University.
Imiso is currently owned by Dyalvane and Poswa, and employs a team of highly skilled artists to create the best possible output at planned intervals in a way that seeks to improve the competitiveness and profitability of the enterprise.
