The Bon Amis Music Picnic features bands from a selection of schools from across Cape Town performing in a joint concert that celebrates our youth and the joy of making music together. The French term ‘bon amis’ is translated as ‘good friends’; a fitting term to describe the collaborative nature of the event.
The picnic takes place on the lawns of the Bon Amis Restaurant at Bloemendal Wine Estate, Durbanville, and tickets can be purchased through www.quicket.co.za. The four local school jazz bands performing are from Elkanah House, Milnerton High School, Parklands College and The Settlers High School.
The styles of music being performed range from golden oldies to recent chart toppers. Each band brings their own unique flavour to the programme, which includes a mix of rock, pop, jazz and contemporary music.
The event seems to resound with what people are looking for in Cape Town; a relaxed and beautiful picnic setting during the mild April weather with affordable yet good cuisine, wine and entertaining music; all in support of youth development.
