The Research Report Show is a talk show aimed at creating awareness around research being carried out at any postgraduate level in universities around South Africa (Honours and upwards) through interviews with the respective student researchers. In some cases, this extends to South African students that are pursuing post graduate studies outside of South Africa as well, as this can to a certain extent also contribute to the South African postgraduate research landscape. The target audience of The Research Report Show is undergraduate students aspiring to do post graduate research, current post graduate students, companies/donors involved in the same field of research, and related research stakeholders. Distribution of The Research Report Show episodes (i.e. the interviews) will primarily be on the Varsity Podcasts website, SoundCloud channel, iTunes channel and Facebook page. The duration of each interview is 10-15 minutes, done in person or via Skype. Following the interview, the interviewee nominates two postgraduate students to feature in future editions – these students should ideally be in a different faculty and if possible, a different university. There is no direct compensation from Varsity Podcasts to those participating in the talk show. However, their participation will be a valuable addition to our platform and could lead to greater public understanding of research, your field of study, and the research opportunities awaiting young and aspiring academic researchers. In addition to this, there is also potential that related research stakeholders could get in touch with you should there be areas of mutual collaboration that they would like to explore.
