James Borthwick


James has been a professional actor since 1974, appearing in over 210 theatre productions, including The Grapes of Wrath (1986) for which he won a DALRO Best Supporting Actor Award as Jim Casey; Amadeus (1991) Regional Vita Best Actor Award as Salieri; Tickle To Fine Leg (1995) Regional Vita Best Actor in a Comedy Award as Corky Labuschagne; Old Wive’s Tale (1998) Avanti Best Actor in a Feature Film Award; Uncle Vanya (2004) Fleur du Cap Award as Best supporting Actor as Astrov, and Evita (2010) Fleur du Cap and Naledi Awards for Best performance in a Musical as Peron. Other highlights include Kerner In Hapgood (1990), Aston in The Caretaker (1992) and Max van Mayerling in Sunset Boulevard (2013), all of which were nominated performances. He is married to the actress Rika Sennett and they have two daughters, Kate (31) and Hannah (29).
