A real-life story by inspirational author, Ntsiki Sigege, adapted from her book ‘A Broken Wing’ and presented theatrically though monologues as part of the 2016 Artscape Spiritual Festival themed, “Healing Self – Healing Society”.
The production, A Broken Wing with Mabongi & The OAK brings to life stories of two profound women who have gone through the experience of painful divorces. Coming from different provinces, cultural groups and religious backgrounds, they meet under the strangest of circumstances to discover that they share one thing in common, they both have been badly hurt, lost and raising three set of kids each.
In collaboration with the musical ensemble, Mabongi Thusi and The Oak, which is led by its founder, the production promises to heal whilst at the same time entertain the audience. A Broken Wing with Mabongi & The OAK will also feature South African acclaimed and well known Maskandi musician, Mfiliseni ka Mangubane.
Ntsiki and Mabongi’s stories are a rich and compelling source of inspiration for women (and men) who are setting out on the marital journey. What makes this a must come and watch show is that their stories, told through theatre and a musical resonates with what the Spiritual Festival is all about. It is about pain, the journey, healing and moving on.
A Broken Wing with Mabongi & The OAK will be staged at Artscape on Wednesday, 23 March 2016 at 19:30. Please note that the performance is a once-off. Tickets range from R80 (discounts and block bookings) to R120 and can be booked at Computicket.
