40 Years in 30 Minutes

Choreographer: Shanell Winlock Pailman

“I have experienced so much death in my life… and every time it’s the same story… people get to know a part of you, they spend time with you, you get to know them, something happens they die, you have a memorial service to pay tribute to them… and their flyer gets put in to a drawer… but how many of us don`t wish we had said all when the person was still alive…They say if you want to get to know someone spend time with them… I would like to give you 30 minutes to get a glimpse of me! Who I am, what moves me or how I move , share some of my thoughts, and what drives me… my likes, dislikes and FEARS… This work is a tribute to me. Call me vain but…why wait until I’m no longer around for you to know who I am.”

Makwerekwere

Choreographer: Bailey Snyman/Ashley Churchyard

Makwerekwere explores the suffocating restrictions of conflict and xenophobia in South Africa. Makwerekwere is a derogatory term used for foreign nationals in the townships and the work sheds light on the fear of the ?other? in South African society
